Job Title: Aggregate (QC) Lab Technician
Location: Sturgis, MI
Reports To: QC Manager
Payroll Category: Non-Exempt
Payroll Status: Full-time
Summary:
Sampling and testing of aggregate to ensure compliance with MDOT specifications and company quality control tolerances. Tests performed may include, but are not limited to, gradations of fine and coarse materials, loss by wash, bulk specific gravity, and deleterious material picks. Assists in all aspects of the Quality Control operations for the division. Actively involved in the achievement of quality and safety requirements. Employee may be required to travel to different job sites within Michigan and Indiana.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Learns and participates in the development and validation of processes, materials and products under the guidance of manager
Performs tests and sampling procedures before, during, and after the manufacturing process
Entry of data from test procedures into QC database.
Reporting testing abnormalities to plant managers, QC manager, and sales staff.
Updating and preparing documentation of operating procedures
Providing expertise in quality control and operating procedures to co-workers
Submit all test and inspection reports
Actively participate in weekly safety meetings (Toolbox Talks)
Education and/or Experience:
1 + years previous experience in an aggregate QC lab is preferred but not required
High School diploma
Aggregate Lab Technician Certification is preferred but not required
Associate's degree in construction management technology, civil engineering technology or related area is preferred but not required.

Strong computer skills
Basic math skills
Strong writing and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Physical Demands:
This position requires walking, standing, bending, twisting, sitting and lifting
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance
Ability to climbing into/out of trucks, driving vehicles in and out of quarry and to other quarries as needed
Ability to use standardized laboratory equipment such as sieve shakers, scales, and ovens
Work periodically in inclement weather conditions and around high temperatures
