Salary Range: $71,000 - $101,000



General Position Description:



The NOC Engineer is responsible for executing and managing tasks related to disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring strict compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role includes planning, developing, and implementing configuration changes across the system (network, hardware, and software). This position may involve working the second shift (2 PM - 11 PM PST) as the change implementer.


The NOC Engineer ensures the security, reliability, and availability of the infrastructure, supports organizational growth, and performs capacity planning and analysis. Additional responsibilities include participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and providing mentorship to NOC Analysts, NOC Technicians, and IT Technical Support staff. The role involves collaboration with NOC and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams, Technical Support, Telecom, Project Management, and Product Development personnel in a fast-paced environment.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Administer and manage the operation of wide-area, local area, and wireless networks, including hardware, software, SaaS, and vendor relationships.

  • Act as an escalation point for NOC Technicians and Analysts during system or network-related incidents.

  • Plan, design, install, monitor, and administer network extensions to accommodate new sites, systems, and equipment.

  • Monitor and evaluate Internet and Intranet websites for performance, capacity planning, and security compliance.

  • Troubleshoot physical servers (DELL & HPE), SAN/NAS storage appliances, VMware, LAN/WAN/WLAN equipment, Azure SaaS/PaaS integrations, and software issues.

  • Understand and interpret error conditions and messages, performing required corrective actions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education/Certifications/Licenses:



  • Ability to travel within San Diego County as needed, with proof of liability and property damage insurance for personal vehicles.

    Driver Requirements:

    • Licensed for a minimum of 3 years.

    • No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years.

    • No vehicle-related suspensions/reinstatements.

    • No DUI, reckless, or felony driving within 7 years.



  • At least 5 years of experience in Information Systems, including installation, configuration, administration, and management of data network hardware and software.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Microsoft MCSA and Cisco CCNP preferred.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and meets state or federal certification requirements.


Experience/Specialized Skills:



  • Advanced knowledge in network management, TCP/IP troubleshooting, and a wide array of hardware and software technologies.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Self-sufficient, innovative, and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Significant training and experience in server/network hardware and software, including Microsoft Solutions, VMware, and Azure virtualization.

  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Working knowledge of current concepts in network design: LANs, WANs, WLANs, segmentation, gateways, routers, network switches, hubs, TCP/IP, Ethernet protocols, etc.
