As a Performance Engineer at Paciolan you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our applications. You will leverage your expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and performance testing tools such as K6 and Gatling, as well as monitoring tools like Grafana and AppOptics, to identify performance bottlenecks, recommend improvements, and ensure our systems can handle high loads efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance Testing & Analysis:
    • Design, develop, and execute performance tests using tools like K6 and Gatling.
    • Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations.
    • Develop and maintain performance test scripts and scenarios for various applications and services.
  • System Optimization:
    • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application code and infrastructure.
    • Analyze system performance, including CPU, RAM, and thread utilization, and make recommendations for improvements.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Implement and manage monitoring solutions using Grafana and AppOptics to track application performance and system health.
    • Configure and maintain dashboards in Grafana to visualize performance metrics and identify trends.
    • Use AppOptics for application performance monitoring, including distributed tracing and metrics collection.
    • Provide detailed performance reports and recommendations to stakeholders based on monitoring data.
  • Infrastructure & Deployment:
    • Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of performance testing environments.
    • Deploy and manage performance testing tools on Amazon EC2 instances.
    • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated performance testing and reporting.
  • Scripting & Automation:
    • Write and maintain scripts in Python and Bash/Shell to automate performance testing and analysis tasks.
    • Use Git for version control and collaboration on performance testing code and scripts.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Work closely with development and operations teams to understand performance requirements and goals.
    • Participate in design and code review meetings to ensure performance considerations are addressed early in the development process.

What to bring

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years proven experience in performance testing and analysis, particularly with tools such as K6 and Gatling.
  • Strong knowledge of Java, Node JS, JavaScript and TypeScript for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting (Bash/Shell).
  • Familiarity with Python for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Experience with Grafana and AppOptics for monitoring and performance visualization.
  • Understanding of system resources, including threads, RAM, and CPU, and their impact on application performance.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

An Extra Awesome

  • Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically EC2.
  • Knowledge of additional performance testing tools or techniques.

Familiarity with Agile development practices and CI/CD methodologies

The approximate base pay range for this position is $45.68 to $45.68. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience as well as geographic location.
