The Role:



Moderna is seeking a talented, experienced and motivated Senior Research Associate to join the Clinical Immuno-Assay group to serve as an analyst for the virus neutralization assay development, qualification/ validation to support programs across multiple therapeutic areas. The candidate is expected to independently execute experiments and conduct clinical samples analysis in a regulated laboratory at Moderna.


The candidate will have knowledge of best practices in bioanalytical assay procedures, and prior experience in running assay validation and conducting data acquisition on clinical specimen. In addition, the candidate may train junior team members when and where needed to perform analytical work and maintain clinical testing continuity. The ability to effectively communicate within a project team and with external partners is expected. The candidate should be a collaborative team member and an excellent communicator to support Moderna's portfolio needs.


The candidate will work closely with project team members to develop analytical methods and characterization tools in support of our clinical phase studies. The position will report to the group lead of Virus Neutralization Assay.



Here's What You'll Do:



  • Under the guidance of project lead, be responsible for the quality and integrity of assigned assay projects in support of clinical trials at Moderna


    • Serve as a key analyst, conduct assay development, qualification/validation and sample analysis


    • Deliver high quality data within defined timelines and aligned to current industry expectations


    • Review and QC data, author bioanalytical reports


    • Identify and resolve quality issues and report issues to upper management




  • Occasionally the job may require overtime work or weekend shift as needed


  • Coach and train junior staff within the Lab


  • Assume assigned general laboratory responsibilities, e.g. safety coordinator, instrument/process/technology owner etc


  • Always ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. Maintain training records


  • Attending technical conferences and exhibits as required





Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:



  • Bachelor or MSc with 2+ years' experience in vaccine, virology, or related field preferably for the assessment of neutralization antibody titer


  • Demonstrated level of independence


  • Flexibility with changing priorities and urgent project requests


  • Good level of understanding and expertise in design and executing virus neutralization assays


  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and detection


  • An effective communicator and collaborator in a multifunctional project team


  • Good written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills;


  • Good computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism


  • Knowledge of system software for data analysis: Softmax pro, Gen 5 and basic laboratory statistics


  • Preferably experienced with immunoassay techniques i


  • Preferably experienced with bioanalytical assays for vaccine development and infectious disease


  • Preferably knowledgeable in best practices recommended by FDA, CLSI to conduct development, qualification and validation of assays (e.g. M10 Bioanalytical Method Validation) is preferred


  • Experience with LIMS system


  • Preferably knowledgeable in current GLP or CAP/CLIA/ISO standards




This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna's site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
