Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern to work during the winter recess and/or summer 2025 in the Buffalo, NY office. As an EHS Intern, you would play a vital role in supporting environmental or health and safety compliance policies. You would have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by participating in site visits, audits, trainings, and meetings. Additionally, you may be involved in data collection and analysis to support client project initiatives. Furthermore, as an intern, you would have the chance to collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the development of technical plans. Overall, the role of an EHS Intern provides valuable exposure to the practical application of EHS principles and fosters professional growth within the field.

This role sits within Resilience: Environment, Sustainable Operations. In the Global Business Area of Resilience, we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. As part of our Environment, Sustainable Operations team, you'll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in EHS your work could involve helping our EHS clients with solutions that sustain their operation excellence by reducing incidents and improving compliance, operational performance, culture and asset value.

Role accountabilities:

• Support environmental or health & safety compliance policies, programs, procedures, and management systems.
• Assist program managers performing data analytics to support client project initiatives, data trends and risks.
• Assist with site visits, audits, trainings, and meetings.
• Review and evaluate regulatory permits and associated documentation
• Assist with the development of technical plans (e.g. spill prevention control and countermeasure plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans).
• Work both independently and with a team to provide our clients with solutions to their EHS&S compliance needs.
• Support Arcadis team members in producing high quality work products for our clients.

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or related discipline.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in EHS.

• Prior internship in the environmental field.

Arcadis offers benefits for part-time, as needed positions. These benefits include EAP, 401K, and optional wellbeing benefits. The salary range for this position is $17.00 - $30.00. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
