The Accounting Manager will assist the Director of Finance with the oversight and daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and accounting processes. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the organization by ensuring financial and accounting procedures are completed and reported timely.

How will I contribute
Assist the Director of Finance by managing assigned parts of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Reconcile assigned accounts and review the reconciliations of others and ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner. Supervise, train and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development. Timely prepare journal entries as needed and review the journal entries of others to ensure accurate financial reports. Oversight and managed assigned expense allocations. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insights and recommendations to management. As assigned, oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections. Assist the Director of Finance with the management of the annual audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including tax filings and financial reporting requirements. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance team. Oversee the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and accounting software. Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the department. Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the program and ensure smooth operations.

What I bring
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Class C Driving License 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong initiative, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
