Responsibilities





This is a temporary position beginning December 2024 and ending on or before April 15, 2025. If you are interested in a
seasonal tax position and
have a minimum of 2 years' professional tax preparation experience, we'd love to speak with you about joining our incredible team at Baker Tilly!



As a Tax Lead, you will be responsible for assisting Customer Support Tax Preparers to ensure appropriate tax advice and technical support is provided to customers. In addition, you will assist Tax Managers with onboarding, training, monitoring performance, and when necessary, scheduling customer callbacks.

What You Will Do:



  • Provide individualized assistance and support to experts working with customers for both tax advice and tax preparation, while also documenting the quality of customer interactions.


  • Monitor calls/chats and support experts with extensive research and troubleshooting.


  • Display readiness by adhering to scheduled shifts, and actively contributing to the team by assisting experts via the dedicated Slack channels.


  • Deliver accurate tax advice to customers utilizing provided research materials, professional resources, and team support.


  • Schedule outreach calls from customer callback and tax accuracy lists and provide individual tax troubleshooting support and preparation assistance through video-enabled software and chat support, carefully documenting customer interactions.


  • Assist managers in guiding experts through the on-boarding process, by reviewing completion reports, participating in office hours/training sessions, ensuring training timelines are met, and testing experts' readiness for their first call.






Qualifications


  • Minimum of two (2) seasons of professional tax preparation experience, with a minimum of 30 tax returns prepared


  • Prior tax preparation experience in a tax practice or retail setting


  • PTIN is required and one of the following credentials: EA, CPA or JD


  • College degree a plus, but not required


  • Knowledge of tax laws, tax concepts and familiarity with the form 1040 and all schedules


  • Willingness to utilize audio/visual tools to communicate with customers


  • Strong problem solving and research skills, and the ability to quickly use online resources to find answers


  • Well-developed technical troubleshooting skills




For California, Colorado, New York and Washington: The compensation range for this role is $28 to $32. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
