Position Summary


The AWS DevOps Architect is responsible for the IT planning, automation, and execution of implementation and support for the ICU Medical's Safety Software and Infusion product lines.


The proper candidate will use their expertise to lead best practices in architecture, design, and deployment of HealthCare products on AWS. They will lead a diverse team of indirect reports to create a state of the art DevOps practice through technical automation and detailed monitoring solutions. They will also collaborate with Medical Device hardware and software engineers to develop and support client services within AWS.


The position requires a technical understanding of IT related technologies including the AWS Cloud, data center technologies, and/or a myriad of healthcare technologies deployed at client hospital sites. This will include Windows and Linux operating systems, advanced networking, firewall security, as well as SQL/NOSQL databases.


Also required will be the ability to understand, follow, and implement quality system processes, such as HITRUST and SOC2 compliances.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


• Implement and Support ICU Medical IT solutions including architecting, planning, installing, documenting, and quality testing

• Create DevOps strategies to achieve company goals

• Integrate and collaborate on bringing R&D DevOps solutions to Production

• Guide team with operational best practices utilizing the latest AWS services

• Maintain cloud platform services and associated configurations using ITIL processes

• Develop, implement, and maintain rigorous cybersecurity practices

• Perform cost and risk assessments to provide economical and serviceable solutions

• Review new AWS services offerings to provide senior leadership recommendations with justified rationalization

• Assist in solving complex problems with a customer focus

• Maintain quality standards used by ICU Medical such as HITRUST or ISO.

• Provide deployment cost optimization estimates and recommendations

• Lead and mentor technical and non-technical team members

• With detail, document the work performed

• Participate in after-hours customer support, which includes an on-call rotation program, weekend maintenances, and other IT related activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications


• Demonstrate deep understanding of AWS DevOps and apply prior experiences

• AWS service expertise including EC2, VPC, CloudFront, S3, Aurora, Glacier, etc.

• Demonstrate theory and practice of Infrastructure and Policy as Code

• Must have expert level networking knowledge

• Experience deploying disaster recovery solutions using AWS

• Certificate management practices

• Support development of processes and tools to maintain HITRUST certification

• Ability to troubleshoot connectivity within AWS and across the internet

• Develop and support advanced data analytics solutions using AWS

• Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients, staff, and team members

• Detailed oriented while performing job functions, including required documentation of each installation.

• Experience with system maintenance plans and building IT Project Management plans.

• Experience with SQL/NOSQL Server administration and troubleshooting

• Experience with any of the following AWS ELB, SNS, SOS, Route53, API Gateway, Lambda, 1AM, STS, Cognito, KMS, Aurora, Kinesis, Redis

• Power user of scripting languages (BASH, Javascript, PowerShell or equivalent)



Education and Experience


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

• Minimum 4 years of DevOps Production experience with minimally the AWS EC2, S3, Glacier, CloudFormation, CloudWatch

• Minimum 3 years of leading high-technology engineering teams

• Minimum of 8 years of IT experience with system administration, support, and/or programming

• Experience creating high-technology solutions for Analytics preferred

• Implementation experience with ISO 27001, SSAE 16, HITRUST or equivalent preferred

• Medical Device or technology company experience preferred

• AWS Professional Certifications preferred



Minimum Qualifications


• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check


Travel Requirements


• May require travel up to 25% of the time

• Remote position


Physical Requirements and Work Environment


• This role requires the ability to travel when necessary (sit on a plane or travel in a car to customer locations)

• Ability to work in standing or seated position for extended periods of time

• This is largely a sedentary role.
