What's needed for this role?



  • Preparing for trial

    • Paralegals help prepare for trial by gathering information, drafting documents, and coordinating witnesses. They also prepare witness and exhibit lists, subpoenas, and jury instructions.



  • Managing deadlines

    • Paralegals are proactive about meeting deadlines and may suggest extending deadlines if needed. They also coordinate schedules for the legal team, including attorneys, clients, experts, and witnesses.



  • Communicating

    • Paralegals communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and opposing counsel. They may also interview clients and witnesses, and obtain written statements from witnesses.



  • Researching

    • Paralegals conduct legal and factual research to locate cases, depositions, and other information. Research what is valid under the applicable law and procedural rules.



  • Organizing

    • Paralegals keep everything organized, including case notebooks, document indices, and lists. They also track evidence during the trial Using technology

    • Paralegals may use computerized litigation techniques and software, including litigation software to issue code deposition testimony and exhibits. They may also type in descriptions, dates, and Bates numbers for exhibits.
