Description: The Department of English at Princeton University is seeking an assistant professor in Media Studies. We are looking for a scholar working in the field of Media Studies broadly defined, including film and television, the history of the book, new media forms, informal media networks in the Global South, digital humanities and critical AI. We are interested in scholars whose work cuts across historical periods, regions, cultural traditions, and methodologies and those focused on the intersection of media studies and race and/or ethnicity in the shaping of literary canons, texts, and histories or the impact of the media in other fields including performance studies, environmental humanities, and gender and sexuality. Applicants should display an understanding of the dynamics of media within the research landscape of literary, material and communication cultures, archives and media histories, and methods and issues in media studies from a range of critical perspectives and methodologies.
