GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:


The Neurotech Justice Accelerator at MGB, a Dana Center for Neuroscience & Society (Neuro JAM) is a newly established grant funded initiative that will train the next generation of neuroscience and society leaders to improve equitable access to beneficial neurotechnology, protect the public from neurotechnology harms, and establish standards to promote responsible societal use of neurotechnology.


Reporting to and working in partnership with the Faculty Directors and the Senior Program Manager will be the Communications and Events Coordinator (Communications Coordinator). The Communications Coordinator will lead all communication efforts and events planning, including developing and maintaining the Neuro JAM website and newsletter; developing print and electronic materials; developing and executing the social media strategy; preparing design of reports, solicitation letters, mailings, blog posts, and flyers; and managing and executing events.


The Communications Coordinator will act as the lead strategist for the communications and marketing strategy, both print and electronic. The Communications Coordinator will also act as the lead planner for events, working closely with the Senior Program Manager and Program Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator will act as the main point of contact between Neuro JAM and the campus communications offices, as well as with both local and national media outlets.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Communications and Marketing:



• Create both internal and external communications, including event flyers, reports, publications graphics, blog posts, and social media posts


• Develop and maintain the NJAM Newsletter


• Contribute to branding and social media campaigns


• Maintain and regularly update website and social media platforms


• Work closely with NJAM leadership team to determine messaging for internal and external communications.


• Work closely with campus partners to align messaging and communications strategy


• Develop branded project and event materials, including swag



Event Planning and Execution:



• Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, vendors and venues


• Plan event details, including registration forms, attendance tracking


• Oversee the planning and execution of both in-person and virtual events, including the summer program and symposia


• Coordinate social events within the project and with the community



Support Neuro JAM in other communication and event matters as identified and assigned by the Senior Program Manager and Faculty Directors




Qualifications

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



Basic Qualifications



• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree


• Demonstrated excellence in marketing, communications or event management


• Familiarity with website development and communications platforms


• Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in communications and event management work; strong preference for at least 1-3 years of experience


• Experience running both virtual and in-person events

• Superior verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail and sound judgment.


• Excellent technical skills with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).



Physical Requirements



• Ability to meet in-person with community partners and participate in community-engaged events off site


• Some lifting, e.g. carrying materials to and from community events
