The Security Guard is responsible for all aspects of plant security, including plant access control, routine and emergency first-aid, enforcement of plant safety rules, participation in emergency response situations such as incipient stage firefighting, handling telephone calls, record keeping and report writing for a plywood consisting of approximately 300 employees.



  • Checks all equipment at the beginning of shift using applicable forms and log entries.

  • Responds to and assists with site emergencies and incidents as directed.

  • Logs all activities and completes shift log and incident reports.

  • Answers calls for assistance from plant supervisors and sales/shipping departments.

  • Answers and logs calls from employees regarding missing work shifts and the reason for their absence and relays this information to supervisors prior to the start of shift.

  • Admits outside delivery trucks to mill and completes required paperwork for Sales and/or Shipping.

  • Records all visitors to the facility and completes Visitor Log and issues car placards upon entry and collects them upon exit.

  • Announces unscheduled visitors to the appropriate Department Superintendent or Supervisor and does not allow them to enter facility unless approved by the superintendent/supervisor.

  • Does not allow any visitor entry into the facility who displays agitated or potentially aggressive behavior and telephones Safety Manager.

  • Verifies and monitors employee vehicle entries.

  • Monitors NOAA weather radio and immediately telephones Plywood Plant Manager or Supervisors regarding any issued Tornado warnings, telephones Safety Manager immediately after these notifications are made.
