A Day in the Life
As an Equipment Reliability Engineer, you will establish best practices for equipment maintenance, deploy the Enterprise Maintenance Excellence (MEx) roadmap, and act as a subject matter expert for CMMS/CAMS systems. You'll provide technical expertise to improve equipment performance and reliability, focusing on zero loss and downtime. This role includes leading root cause analysis, developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and supporting manufacturing teams. You will also build and motivate a high-performing team, foster cross-functional relationships, and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.


  • Establish best practice standards and principles for equipment requirements and maintenance.

  • Deploy Enterprise Maintenance Excellence (MEx) road map as part of Medtronic Performance System (MPS) leveraging Total Performance Maintenance principles (TPM)

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the deployment and proper use of the enterprise CMMS/CAMS maintenance system.

  • Provide technical expertise on equipment performance and reliability.

  • Establish programs and solutions for increasing uptime solving equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process based on zero loss and zero downtime mindset.

  • Technical support to the manufacturing maintenance equipment teams and process engineering teams.

  • Develop and deploy equipment and maintenance excellence applying root cause analysis and problem-solving skill sets across the Enterprise.

  • Defines and recommends preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

  • Develop and motivate a highly talented, diverse, Equipment Engineering Services team responsible for development and maintenance of our production assets.

  • Partner with internal and external experts to maintain and strengthen relevant engineering and technical expertise.

  • Grow and nurture cross site and cross functional relationships in a large, matrixed organization that serves as a model site for Medtronic globally.

  • Understand and comply with company policies & procedures and external standards & guidance.

  • Generate novel and unique solutions to both engineering and organizational challenges.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical (preferred), Electrical, or related Engineering field required with a minimum of 2 years of direct equipment or maintenance engineering experience

  • OR advance degree in Engineering with minimum of 0 years of direct equipment or maintenance engineering experience

Nice to Have (Preferred):


  • 3-5 years of direct equipment or maintenance engineering experience

  • Excellent team building, communication, facilitation, and leadership skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in Total Performance Maintenance (TPM) application

  • CMRP or CRL certification

  • Experience or certification in condition monitoring and predictive maintenance methods, preferably ultrasound or infrared

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,800.00 - $121,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
