Job Description:

Please Note: NI does NOT petition for H-1B status from student visas for full-time or intern hires, thus cannot accept candidates for this position who are on a student visa and have Curriculum Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), or academic training.

The NI Test Engineering team designs, assembles and validates test solutions to be used in NI Manufacturing facilities to test NI products at various stages of their assembly process. We are seeking a Test Engineering intern who will work with our Test Engineers to assist with the design of these automated test systems. Examples of the kinds of work NI Test Engineering Interns might do include but are not limited to:

  • Designing or revising custom printed circuit boards to be used in a test fixture

  • Developing production test code for the next generation of NI products

  • Qualifying instruments for use in a Test application to be deployed to Manufacturing

  • Analyzing production test data to look for trends which indicate the health of the product and/or test solution
  • Degree Requirements

    BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science

    Preferred Qualifications

    Strong candidates will have an understanding of the following concepts and principles:

  • High-level programming languages (e.g. LabVIEW, TestStand, Python)

  • Analog signal considerations

  • Sources of measurement error

  • Appropriate selection of instrumentation

  • Statistical analysis of data

  • Integration of hardware and software

  • Hands-on experience with electronic hardware

  • Experience with high frequency circuit design, RF and wireless communication is highly desirable
  • Candidates should also possess the following traits:

  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed

  • Ability to work effectively in a group development environment

  • Problem-solve effectively, with an ability to diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions
