Enterprise Architecture General Manager

At T. Rowe Price, the mission of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function is to empower the firm to achieve its strategic objectives through the optimal use of technology. The EA function will align technology with business capabilities to enable effective strategy execution and business transformation. By monitoring and adopting emerging technologies, EA will drive technology enabled innovation and keep the firm ahead of industry disruption.

Position Summary: 

This role is responsible for program and business management responsibilities for the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Division, providing direction and coordination across the EA functions. The Enterprise Architecture General and Program Manager acts as an intermediary to internal and external stakeholders and a resource on matters such as strategic planning, budgeting and financial management, workforce strategy, communication strategy, training and development, and Enterprise Architecture projects and initiatives. This role will be accountable for standing up and running the architecture review board (ARB), which involves overseeing the architectural integrity and strategic alignment of projects within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support Head of Enterprise Architecture in setting, monitoring, and reporting on the EA strategy.  Stand up and maintain governance mechanisms to establish and enforce architecture principles, policies, and standards.

  • Track priorities across all EA functions and follow-up as needed with leaders to drive execution and meet deadlines.

  • Proactively identify issues or opportunities for improvement across the EA functions; make suggestions related to strategic priorities, policies, process, etc.

  • Create and manage the architecture review board (ARB) by developing agendas, meeting minutes, outputs and presentations, dashboard reporting, and action tracking.

  • Be a sounding board for the Head of Enterprise Architecture’s direct reports as needed on strategic projects and people matters.

  • Facilitate EA’s 3-year strategic plan and budget in collaboration with the lead team and finance business partners; identify and propose metrics to measure success and productivity.

  • Prepare EA quarterly business reviews including tracking EA group metrics and progress on strategic initiatives.

  • Partner with technology to maintain accurate view of EA technology development spend and budget, and progress on executing technology programs.

  • Work with finance business partner to ensure EA remains on budget and make recommendations for any changes or re-allocations.

  • Maintain view of EA open positions and work with all direct reports and functions to maintain up to date hire dates.

  • Work with HR business partner to define people priorities including preparing talent reviews, maintaining a view of HIPOs and developing learning agenda.

  • Develop a communication strategy for EA and execute it, including guiding and reviewing all communications from the EA.

  • Set agendas for and facilitate bi-weekly EA lead team meetings, in partnership with the Head of Enterprise Architecture and lead team.

  • Develop a broad network in EA and keep a pulse on associate morale and needs.

  • Represent EA as needed in various forums.

Qualifications:



  • Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 8+ years of total relevant work experience

    • Experience working within the financial services industry preferred, ideally in EA function within a Global investment management organization 




  • Technical Skills:

    • Financial services experience; previous asset management is a plus

    • Consulting, financial planning and analysis, or strategy experience

    • Chief of Staff / executive support experience

    • Knowledge of technology and operations

    • Exceptional written communication skills including preparing presentations




  • Leadership and Soft Skills:

    • Excellent executive presence and verbal communication skills

    • Influential and collaborative leader able to build consensus and deep relationships, bring others along, and drive change adapting to people or the situation; systematically builds support at multiple levels and across groups

    • Hands on and detail oriented “doer”; rolls-up his/ her sleeves and does real work

    • Proactive approach to setting priorities and executing

    • Proven ability to handle multiple and competing priorities



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working in a business management role within a global, corporate technology organization

  • Certifications in TOGAF 9 Foundation Certification

  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools

  • Knowledge of data architecture and governance

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
