JOB SUMMARY Works under minimal supervision to plan, fabricate, and maintain pattern dies, sprue dies, gauges, or ancillary items of extreme complexity. All types of precision machine shop equipment, hand tools, and measuring device tools are used in extremely complex tasks. Independent judgment and skill are frequently required.

Maintains, Fabricates and Manufactures dies, patterns, and gauges of extreme complexity.

Inspects dies for conformance to established specifications. 4. Performs complex machining using horizontal lathes, cnc, vertical mills, and surface grinders. 5. Sets up, creates, and sharpens drills, tool bits, and cutting tools. 6. Assists in training lower level toolmakers. 7. Plans the repair or modification of complex molds and repairs or modifies as required. 8. Repairs complex damaged dies, gauges, and fixtures per requests from production. 9. Follows tool work order requests per engineering and manufacturing instructions. 10. Manufactures fixtures and tools from rough sketches or complex electronic models. 11. Maintains records, drawings, electronic files, or other paperwork as required to complete task at hand. 12. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, efficient, and safe condition. 13. Performs precise machining or salvage operations on certain castings that cannot be machined by other departments (finishing, grinding, etc.). 14. Performs other duties as required. 15.
