Job Title: Senior Estimator


Location: Austin, TX/Pflugerville, TX area (Onsite with potential for hybrid work after an initial evaluation period)


Job Overview:
Seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of comprehensive project estimates. This role involves overseeing various projects, attending pre-bid meetings, conducting site visits, managing bids, developing cost estimates, evaluating subcontractor and supplier costs, and performing risk analysis. Support is provided by junior estimators and an estimating coordinator.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs.

  • Define project scope for both self-perform and subcontracted work.

  • Interpret project documents to create clear, competitive estimates, general conditions, and bid clarifications.

  • Communicate project requirements and owner directives to preconstruction staff, developing plans to meet goals.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Develop value engineering solutions to meet client budgets.

  • Identify and qualify subcontractors.

  • Attend preconstruction meetings with the design team and client.

  • Fill in design gaps with assumptions that align with the engineer's intent.

  • Prepare project clarifications and bid assumptions for submission to the owner.

  • Investigate local market conditions and their impact on costs.

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate effectively.

  • Attend technical and professional meetings and seminars as necessary.

  • Establish timelines and goals for effective and timely estimate submissions.

  • Represent company vision when presenting to potential clients.

  • Ensure quality of services meets project requirements.

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.

  • Provide risk and cost comparison analysis on estimates.

Qualifications:


  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent progressive work experience with 7+ years of estimating civil construction projects, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of education.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of heavy civil construction, specifically in earthwork, underground utilities, drainage, and street/highway construction.

  • Experience with self-perform work.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.

  • Preferred experience with Agtek earthwork take-off software and HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
