Role/ Department: Global AML/Financial Crimes Audit SME/Audit Services

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in AML/Financial Crimes within our internal audit function. As an AML/Financial Crimes Audit SME you will lead and support audit activity across Northern Trust's global footprint. You will provide assurance regarding the design, effectiveness, and sustainability of the AML/Financial Crimes program and its constituent components. The role requires interaction and influencing of stakeholders at all levels across the three lines of defense. The role holder must be passionate around developing people to raise the bar with technical subject matter competence.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of AML/Financial Crime risks and controls and be able to identify and assess risk in the context of the firm's business activities. A deep knowledge and understanding of US and international regulations is required, particularly relating to BSA/AML/OFAC compliance.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Lead AML/Financial Crime audit engagements across Northern Trust's global footprint and global businesses (Wealth Management, Asset Management, Asset Servicing)
• Work closely with the Head of AML/Financial Crime Audit to lead and execute strategic objectives, and drive a high performing function
• Support the design and execution of annual risk-based audit plans, ensuring adequate coverage of financial crime risks
• Perform deep-dive reviews of all components across the AML/Financial Crime/Economic Sanctions programs
• Identify and assess financial crime risks and controls in the context of the firm's business activities
• Evaluate the effectiveness of Financial Crime controls and provide recommendations for improvement
• Develop and grow the technical subject matter expertise of auditors
• Lead, manage, and oversee auditors on audit engagement, ensuring high technical standards are achieved
• Manage stakeholder relationships across the three lines of defense

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong technical subject matter expertise in AML/Financial Crimes/Economic Sanctions Compliance within the financial services industry
• Deep technical knowledge of US/international regulations and associated guidance
• The candidate should have experience in assessing/testing the design and operational effectiveness of financial crime controls
• Experience engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders
• Strong track record of developing technical subject matter expertise in others

Working Model: Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid)

We have a balanced hybrid working model to ensure you get the flexibility you need, and the successful candidate will spend their time between working in the office and working from home.

Salary Range:
$150,000 to $205,000
