Kendal at Oberlin is a full-service life plan community, which primarily serves older adults in the Quaker tradition. Residents are assured a lifetime of healthcare including short- and long-term nursing services, memory care and assisted living. Equally important, residents enjoy an independent, enriching living experience.

Kendal at Oberlin's Early Learning Center is currently seeking a creative and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher on a PRN (as needed) basis. The Substitute Teacher will aid and assist the Early Learning Center teachers in the classroom, covering when needed. The teacher will prepare materials for curriculum and learning experiences in lesson plans while providing a safe and accepting educational environment. Further responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 


  • Planning and adapting a creative curriculum based on what most preschoolers should know and be able to do.

  • Assess children's development and learning through collecting samples of children's drawings and writings and adding to the children's portfolios.

  • Paying attention to and supporting children's interests, skills and knowledge. 

  • Learn and support all KELC curricula such as Conscious Discipline by setting clear limits for children's behavior and explain reasons.

Qualifications and Experience: 


  • Must have experience in working with children 2-5 years old.

  • Must attend trainings that include First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse training. 

  • Must be able to take children outside in cold weather. 

  • Must be able to lift children, if needed, weighing 30-50 pounds.
