Job Description:

The transition from student to professional is integral to the success of OU graduates and to the mission of University of Oklahoma as an institution. The Career Coach will work with students and alumni of the University concerning the discovery of career communities, seeking/securing experiential and professional opportunities, and navigating the transition from college to career. They will collaborate with team members to develop new programs and initiatives in support of student professional development. The mission of the Career Coach is to assist students in developing career readiness skills critical for the effective transition from college to career, and to build a foundation for life-long career development and advancement.


Responsibilities:



  • Assess the needs of students and help to develop and implement targeted programs and services

  • Provide assistance and instruction to students on resume and CV writing, cover and thank-you letter development, Intro to Handshake and the Career Center.

  • Coordinate strategic outreach efforts to expand the Career Center’s services for specific populations of students.

  • Attend NACE and SoACE virtual workshops and conferences to keep abreast of industry trends.

  • Conduct workshops, presentations, and other special programs for student's groups and classes.

  • Represent the Career Center at various events by promoting the Career Center to faculty and staff and tabling at university events.

  • Maintain current internal databases as it relates to students’ first destination tracking.

  • Enter and maintain records regarding engagement and outreach to university populations.

  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill of the position.


Required Education:  Bachelor's degree.


Skills:



  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Strong composition and proofreading skills

  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining a CRM

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and outcomes

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Sitting for long periods of time. 

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motion.

  • Standard office environment.  

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods
