Discovery Education is looking for a Cloud Engineer III to join our Cloud team as we build a Platform Engineering practice from the group up.

In This Role You Will:

  • Design and implement cost-effective solutions to support our growing Platform Engineering practice
  • Support efforts to migrate, improve and maintain legacy systems
  • Contribute to building and refining our team standards and processes
  • Participate in our on-call schedule to ensure system uptime
  • Mentor other team members on relevant technologies and best practices
  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of complex issues
  • Effectively communicate with other teams to support innovation
  • Write Terraform modules to support safe and rapid developer innovation

Core Competencies for Success:

  • An in-depth knowledge of Terraform
  • Background in software engineering with Python
  • Worked with configuration management (Puppet preferred) to manage a large fleet of virtual machines

Credentials and Experience:

  • 4+ years of linux system administration
    • Distinguished experience with distributed systems and knowledgeable on clustering principals
  • 2+ years of DevOps experience
    • AWS or relevant cloud provider
  • Experience administering production-grade Kubernetes clusters at scale
  • Legal right to work in the United States

This role can sit in our Charlotte headquarters or remote.
