Shift: This role is 1st Shift, 6:00 AM-various end times

Hourly Rate: $35.14 an hour

PM Specialist position is responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes through effective use of EAM. PM Specialist is responsible for the efficient and effective planning, scheduling, and reporting of all maintenance resources with a goal of minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. PM Specialist will work hand in hand with his/her fellow mechanics and contractors/vendors to optimize the PM activities following the asset hierarchy and criticality sheet. Maintenance Planners will coordinate and assign work packages and secure necessary parts and materials in accordance with company procedures, methods and requirements.

Job Requirements, Qualifications, and Selection Criteria:


  • 10+ years' experience as a Mechanic

  • Previous experience operating a CMMS including inventory management and parts ordering, work order creation and release, and creation/maintenance of bills of material

  • Ability to assess priorities and schedule work accordingly

  • Experience planning and identifying parts requirements and procurement. Experience identifying special job requirements and initiating procurement

  • Familiarity working with vendors to obtain required documents and manuals to include drawings, wiring diagrams, and all required Maintenance documents

  • Mechanical/electrical background required. Apprenticeship program, technical school background, or previous maintenance experience is desirable. Must demonstrate their understanding of industrial systems by being able to perform basic mechanic operations

  • Have adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job. Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work both verbally and in written form

  • Good written and verbal communications skills and have demonstrated the ability to be approachable and tactful

  • Good math skills and computer skills in order to use the PC to place requisitions, maintain records, provide spreadsheet analysis, and produce any necessary charts and graphs

  • Ability to utilize MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Good organizational skills. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills

  • Demonstrated ability to read basic blueprints, machine and process drawings

  • Knowledge and understands the maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system, planning and scheduling, and storeroom following the work management processes

  • Can manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion

  • Intermediate level experience in the maintenance of boilers, air compressors, tank yard, and waste water treatment

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operation planning. They ensure the area, department or facility in which they are assigned receive professional maintenance service in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance

  • Reviews all work requests from assigned area. Works to achieve clarity on scope of work, need by date, and resources required. Reviews equipment specifications, determines part lead times, assigns proper charge number (if applicable), obtains proper authorization, and discuss details with originator of the work order

  • Assesses all work requests with regards to safety & product integrity. Gives work requests for safety items the highest priority

  • Identifies work requiring engineering design and engages plant engineering as necessary

  • Escalates work request issues to the Maintenance Manager per departmental policies in a timely manner

  • Reviews work requests with Maintenance Leads, Supervisors, Request Originator, Production Supervisors, Production Schedulers, Powerhouse, and Parts Room as necessary

  • Identifies and secures all parts and material required to complete the work by creating pick tickets and parts lists and/or initiating purchase orders as required. Determines any vendor delivered service for the work order. (i.e., contract vibration service or alignment service)

  • Estimates resources based on craft or skills required, sequence required and number required

  • Provides a total cost estimate for the work to be performed: labor, material, and outside services

  • Manages the status of any work backlog, and prepares weekly reports of maintenance work in their assigned area. Keeps accurate key metrics for maintenance activities in their area

  • Able to write maintenance procedures that promote defect-free maintenance work quality

  • Actively participates in scheduling and OEE meetings with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary lead times

  • Perform Mechanic duties as assigned

  • Regularly reviews both preventative and corrective maintenance work instructions for accuracy and looks for improvement. Solicits feedback from maintenance technicians and supervisors regarding the same. Updates PMs, BOMs, and other information in the CMMS

  • Daily reviews of PM's on assets listed by priority on the criticality sheet, the reviews will include existing PM activities in comparison with OEM manuals and best practices. Obtain maintenance manager approval to modify PM's

  • Participates in failure analysis to determine if PM activities and frequencies will require modification to prevent the failures

  • Investigates Asset PM/Work order history in EAM following breakdowns to determine optimization opportunities and training needs

  • Utilize mechanical/electrical skills and abilities to identify PM optimization opportunities on assets thru daily reviews, dynamic observations during operation, and during rebuild projects. To include asset components not identified in OEM maintenance manuals or existing PM's

  • Consults with fellow mechanics and interviews operators to determine failure rates, and frequencies in an effort to identify PM optimization opportunities or JES modifications

  • Review all PM optimization suggestions/proposals with Maintenance Manager, and obtain approval before making any modifications in EAM

  • Suggest better performing parts or easier detection methods for areas with high downtime

  • Create standard work orders with accurate parts lists

Relationships:


  • Reports to Maintenance Manager

  • Works closely with Operation supervision and Operation planning

  • Works closely with Maintenance Leads and Supervisors

  • Works closely with Stores and purchasing personnel

  • Works closely with assigned outside services supervisors

  • Works closely with engineering personnel

  • Works closely with other Planner/Schedulers

  • Interfaces with Safety and Environmental resources for specific concern

  • Assigns work to Maintenance technicians

Position Goals and Measures of Positive Performance:

Performance of the Planner/Scheduler is evaluated primarily on the following measures:


  • Improvement in equipment related OEE & MTBF.

  • PM Schedule compliance: Jobs worked and completed as scheduled

  • Planning accuracy: information, labor, and material

  • Reduction in emergency call hours to planned work hours

  • Improvement in labor effectiveness or increase in value added activities

  • Relationship with operations and maintenance partners

  • Timely distribution of metrics and reports and ability to report status of their area of responsibility
