We are currently looking for full-time Lab Assistant

Hourly rate $19.00


Summary: This position performs collections and prepares specimens for routine testing in the laboratory.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting urine specimens- follow laboratory protocol and HIPAA guidelines while collecting from clients
  • Data entry- Enter data accurately into LIS to maintain precise record of tests and results
  • Preparing specimens for testing – for onsite and reference laboratory
  • Communicate with caseworkers, clients and support staff regarding test results/reports
  • Organizing lab supplies- Keep track of inventory and ensure that all necessary supplies are stocked and ready for use
  • Prepare, pack and ship supplies to agency locations
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe laboratory environment and prevent contamination
  • Participate in required training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attention to detail- Provides accuracy in labeling and documenting specimens
  • Organization- Keeps the lab and workflow organized and efficient
  • Time management – Efficiently handles multiple tasks and prioritizes workload
  • Problem solving – Quickly addresses issues and finds solutions within the lab
  • Client service - manages difficult or emotional client situations; responds promptly to client needs; responds to requests for service and assistance
  • Teamwork- Works well with lab staff and others within the organization
Requirements:

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • High school diploma; and/and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills.
  • One year of laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard laboratory practices and safety protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Knowledge of computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the Internet.
  • Must be available to attend meetings and meet the needs of the laboratory/agency throughout the city or wherever needed.
