Overview

RES is searching for a Real Estate Attorney, with 3+ years of experience. This position will be based out of our Houston, TX or Baton Rouge, LA office location.

The mission: To provide strategic legal counsel in all aspects of land acquisition and real estate transactions, ensuring seamless navigation through regulatory frameworks, contract negotiations, and due diligence. With a focus on minimizing risk and maximizing value, this position supports RES’ growth through efficient, compliant, and cost-effective land acquisitions that align with RES’ long-term business objectives.



Responsibilities

Prepare to take on a dynamic role at RES, where you will support the acquisition and management of critical real property interests essential to our projects. You will play a pivotal role in drafting and negotiating real estate agreements, including fee, easement, and other use-based interests that help bring our visions to life.

As a key team member in structuring deals, you will draft important documents such as letters of intent, lease agreements, and title objection letters, while supporting management and optimization of our landholdings. Building strong relationships with landowners and forging strategic partnerships will be integral to your success.

Your expertise will be demonstrated through the review and preparation of essential documents, including title insurance commitments, restrictive covenants, easements, surveys, and environmental site assessments. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, as well as external partners like surveyors and title agents, while directly engaging with landowners and their legal representatives.

In addition to these core responsibilities, you will represent RES in high-level negotiations and oversee external counsel. You will also provide support for key internal initiatives in partnership with our General Counsel. Qualifications



We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • A minimum of 3 years’ real estate experience
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing
  • 3+ years of experience negotiating with landowners and other parties having an interest in real property
  • Drafting and negotiating acquisition agreements and closing documents
  • Reviewing title documents, including title commitments, Phase I ESAs, and surveys, and corresponding with title agents

What will make you stand out?

  • Experience navigating Zoning and land use restrictions and limitations
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental permitting and/or regulatory compliance
  • Strong negotiating, interpersonal and team-building skills, as well as mature judgment discretion.
