In this business-critical role, you will be a part of the Cranial & Spinal Technologies R&D Finance group, responsible for supporting all financial aspects of product development and released product management. The Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) operating unit is a fast-growing, dynamic business with a global footprint and products ranging from spinal implants to spine robotics, navigation, and imaging large capital equipment.

This position will report to the Sr Finance Manager, Enabling Technology R&D.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Performs variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning, and expense comparisons for Enabling Technologies R&D cost centers and projects

  • Investigates financial results, prepares, and assists in the production of key month-end close activities

  • Supports project accounting processes, system, and reporting

  • Maintaining data attributes critical for streamlining reporting and/or transitioning manual reporting to PowerBI

  • Prepares insights to management and develops leadership presentations in support of key meetings and reviews

  • Assist the AOP budgeting and rolling forecast process

  • Business partnering with members of the Enabling Technologies R&D group

  • Responding to ad hoc data requests and supporting special projects

  • Collaborating with other members of the CST R&D Finance team and Corporate R&D Finance COE to drive process efficiencies

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting

  • OR Advance Degree with 5+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting


Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Hyperion/Essbase and SAP experience

  • Project accounting experience

  • High energy, results-orientated individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Innovative, growth mindset with ability to recognize improvement opportunities and embrace change

  • Strong quantitative analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously while appropriately prioritizing

  • Experience with business partnering

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA, CFA, MBA in Finance or a Master degree

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$103,200.00 - $154,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
