Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a manager's approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.



Responsibilities

Duties

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Engages with the film industry and represents the NJEDA and Film Commission at industry related events and engagements. These engagements will focus on the Commission’s purpose, history, services, and matters related to location filming.
  • Develops and executes department goals to support EDA business objectives related to the film industry; reviews and evaluates overall departmental performance. Establishes, communicates, and tracks against key metrics.

Projects:

  • Leads the vision, strategy and goals for large scale initiatives and special projects and manages their implementation.
  • Community Engagement - Will create and manage the “to be established” – NJ Friends of Film Advisory Council. The council will be comprised of local New Jersey community members that want to support the growth of the film industry in the state and can make meaningful contributions in this effort.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Serves as a strategic business development thought partner and advisor to the Executive Director
  • Manages the day-to-day team operations including work product outputs and measuring project performance and KPIs, compliance and reviewing all team’s work product.

Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:

  • Collaborating with the market
  • Leads the team in preparing for Film Commission Regular Board meetings. This involves working with Governance staff to draft agendas, materials, and slides as needed.

Reporting Structure:

  • This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Film and Television.
  • A team of the NJ MPTVC employees will report into this position.
  • This role is responsible for directing and overseeing day to day department operations.
  • Must complete annual self-assessment as required.
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Strong business acumen and ability to engage credibly and thoughtfully in conversations with industry and government leaders.
  • Comfort with engaging in technical details of the film industry and related stakeholder
  • Proven success in a project coordination role and team management

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constraints with little or no supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff

Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in working with the film industry/production services with a proven track record of key stakeholder relationships
  • At least five years’ management/supervisory experience
  • Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

Education:

  • Bachelors’ degree with an emphasis in business, non-profit, or public administration, policy, and/or equivalent experience

Software/Tools Proficiency:

  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Additional Information

  • Minimal physical demands and ability to work out normal business hours
  • Travel expected when necessary for business operations

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
