Responsibilities

Responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process for all US and Canadian entities. Assists in the payroll integration for MSA’s acquisitions as applicable and provides advisory support for internal legal structure changes which impact how our company’s payroll is processed. This position oversees the time and attendance systems across NNA, all aspects of periodic and annual payroll tax reporting, and supports the employee stock purchase and equity programs. This position is also responsible for driving continuous improvement across the payroll function and maintaining effective internal controls over the payroll function.

Payroll Processing:

  • Oversee NNA implementation and continued improvement of the new HCM system, Dayforce.
  • Manage payroll processing, as measured by the pre-established payroll dates, accurately and in compliance with the company’s internal control framework.
  • Oversee all payroll transactions such as executive benefits, stock compensation and foreign assignee adjustments.
  • Manage foreign stock transactions and bonus/incentive payments.
  • Implement, test and deploy payroll systems solutions and enhancements such as Kronos time and attendance system.
  • Manage integration of all MSA acquisitions.
  • Handles escalated employee questions about payroll and ensure resolution.
  • Secure, safeguard and maintain confidentiality of employee information.

Tax Compliance:

  • Manage completion of federal, provincial, state and local tax returns, ensuring that services are timely, accurate, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage year-end tasks such as global compensation adjustments, personal use of auto reporting, assignee compensation summaries, issuance of Form T-4, T2200, W-2’s and Form 1099’s.

Payroll Analysis/Projects/Audit Support:

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support the business including assisting with foreign stock transactions, bonus/incentive payments, inquiries related to Canadian payroll laws and modeling the impacts of legal structure changes.
  • Research technical issues (including payroll tax regulations) and providing recommendations.
  • Serve as payroll representative for MSA projects, as needed.
  • Serve as payroll’s resource for all audits – internal, external and governmental.

Manage Payroll Team:

  • Manage, coach and develop payroll staff.
  • Guide staff in executing proper procedures and providing guidance to other functions as needed. (Payroll, Accounting, Benefits, IT and HR).
  • Develop staff in accordance with MOVE methodology.
  • Develop procedures and proper documentation for training staff.


Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong project experience such as system upgrades, acquisitions/divestitures and outsourcing of payroll.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word / Excel and technical capabilities; familiarity with web-based applications.
  • Understanding of HR and Benefit functions.
  • Understanding with business processes followed by HR, Benefits, IT, and Finance.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree accounting, business, economics, finance or related discipline.

Preferred Experience:

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, English/German or English/French
  • Experience with SAP, global payroll systems and international cultures.

Preferred Education:

  • MBA in Finance or related discipline
  • CPP/CPM Certification
