Mental Health Assistant
Full Time

Location: Ulysses, KS

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:        The Mental Health Assistant will deliver attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation and independent living skills to consumers as directed by supervisor.  The Mental Health Assistant will provide direct one-on-one supervision of consumers and work directly from the Treatment Plan to help them learn independent living skills, complete specific goals, or help stabilize them in crisis situations to avoid out of home placement.  Mental Health Assistant will demonstrate flexibility in being available to work as client need arises.        

  

 OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:     Utilizes computer effectively, including e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet programs. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  : Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.. Be familiar with community resources. Possesses good interpersonal skills. Possesses an interest and investment in working with children who experience Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). . Ability to work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families. Have completed or will complete any required training within six months of employment with Compass including completion of a state approved basic training program, and maintain any state training requirements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Employee is required to complete appropriate on-line certifications through Training Teams prior to billing of services. Must complete CPI prior to billing a Crisis Service Code.  Must complete CPR/First Aide within six months of hire.

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to twenty pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and interaction with many different persons.  In addition, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License and be insurable under the Mental Health Center’s policy in order to operate a Center vehicle. The employee will interact with many different persons in varying stages of recovery from their mental illness.
