Position Description:

Job Purpose

The Network and Cloud Engineer II will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure and cloud environments. Building upon foundational skills, this role requires a deeper understanding and hands-on experience with complex networking configurations and cloud technologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our IT infrastructure, leveraging advanced tools and techniques to optimize performance and mitigate risks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN).
  • Configure and optimize network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues, such as network connectivity problems, latency, or outages.
  • Implement network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage cloud environments (e.g. Azure) and ensure their ongoing availability, performance, and security.
  • Deploy and configure cloud services and resources (compute instances, storage, databases, etc.) based on best practices.
  • Implement cloud automation and orchestration using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Monitor cloud resources and optimize costs by rightsizing instances, leveraging reserved instances, etc.
  • Integrate cloud services with on-premises systems and third-party services.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between different cloud environments and networks.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure smooth deployment and operation of cloud-based applications.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect cloud environments from vulnerabilities and cyber attacks.
  • Monitor compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and perform penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses.
  • Mentor, provide technical guidance, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team. Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Take on ad hoc projects and tasks as required.

Position Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in network engineering, cloud architecture, or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS) and advanced routing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, with experience in securing cloud and network environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, Azure Network Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN), SD-WAN technologies, and network virtualization.
  • Familiarity with SAN management tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of NAS systems, including configuration, administration, and protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating technical concepts into actionable insights.
