Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitates and processes all lab nursing home pre-registrations/registrations. Works closely with nursing home contacts and teams, Registration and Communications Supervisor, lab teams and providers, as well as the director of revenue cycle and patient accounts team.

Provides coverage for Surgery Registration, Main Registration, Emergency Department Registration, Communications Operator and other duties as assigned by lead or supervisor. Duties are as follows:

  • Pre-registers and schedules appointments of patients in the JMH computer system according to the requirements of the customer and obtain requested information/data including pre-certification and/or authorization for patient’s procedure or appointment. Documents to allow for timely and accurate billing to third party payers and patients. Audits, corrects and reports registration inaccuracies on inpatient/observation/SDC surgery registrations. Answers telephone call requests from customers, including internal and external customers. Pre-registers and registers surgical folders and scans needed information into system that is returned from various departments. Performs bedside registration of patients into JMH computer system, according to JMH procedures. Updates computer system and makes copies of insurance cards and photo ID’s for appropriate departments. Scans all consent forms including consents to treat, financial consents, Medicare required consents, Advanced Directive forms, HIPAA consent forms, and other forms related to performing services.
  • Reviews Inpatient/Observation/Outpatient ancillary cases for prior authorizations, pre-certification and benefits verification. Enters information into JMH computer system. Accurately, scans insurance verification sheets, PA referrals, precertification and other referrals received from insurance companies and physician offices. Pre-registers patients for diagnostic procedures, surgery procedures, and other services as needed by calling patients to verify or obtain demographic information includes insurance information. Completes registrations packet with all needed information relevant to the patient’s procedure and/or appointment.
  • Operates Hospital switchboard telephone system, answers all incoming calls, connects callers to long distance, keeps information desk informed of census updates and programs extensions as required. Acts as an answering service for JMH Staff Physicians and keeps on-call lists updated. Maintains current telephone listing of JMH staff on-call, their pager numbers and modes of contact. Provides paging service: overhead, digital/alpha numeric, and radio paging. Monitors alarm devices; reacts to alarms in accordance with procedure and reports any malfunctions. Coordinates with security/maintenance personnel; informs officer on duty of emergent situations.
  • Accepts payment for admissions deposits and patient valuables. Accepts payments for current and past medical services and issue receipt to patients upon acceptance of payment.

Performs related miscellaneous duties as assigned

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Maintains confidentiality of patient and operations information. Supports the Patient Bill of Rights and JMH Mission and Values.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. CRT experience preferred. Previous experience in a hospital admitting department or previous clerical experience in a medical setting preferred, but not required.

SCHEDULE:


Monday- Friday; 9:30am-6pm; Hours may vary.
80 hours per two-week pay period.
