POSITION PURPOSE:

The Project Manager Operational Excellence is responsible for overseeing various strategic projects of a highly complex nature. Responsibilities include but not limited to the initiation, planning, execution, and closure of assigned projects.

Experience


* B.S. degree in Business/Engineering or related discipline: extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
* Minimum of 8 years manufacturing experience; wood related preferred.
* Minimum of 8 years supervision experience; multiple departments.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience successfully leading and facilitating highly complex projects in a multi-plant environment that involves all levels of employees with measurable results.
* Certified Lean Practitioner with `experience in the implementation of lean manufacturing is preferred but not required.
* Applicants must be proficient in identifying areas of improvement, planning for, and leading Kaizen events, value stream mapping, single piece flow, error proofing, visual workplace, standard work, set-up reduction and be familiar with SPC and Six-Sigma implementation.
* Must possess a solid understanding of our entire manufacturing flow - from dimension and flat stock through to final assembly and shipment
* Ability to learn new concepts and pass the knowledge along to others in classroom and practical experience.
* Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.
* Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
* Strong planning/organization & time management skills required.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Track record of successful project management across multiple sites.
* Personal computer skills in a networked environment, Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-point, and MS Project) required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Manage and execute key strategic projects as defined by the Director Operational Excellence.
* Using Lean Manufacturing techniques drive continuous improvement opportunities for the organization utilizing innovation in process improvement, troubleshooting problems, and eliminating waste.
* Provide strategic cross-functional leadership across all Value Streams to plan, train, standardize, and sustain the removal of waste from the value stream.
* Foster the adoption of continuous improvement as a way life; creating a culture of change.
* May provide support, coaching, and development of the Plant Lean Managers.
* Work with internal providers and clients along with external suppliers and customers on improving the total enterprise using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
* Assist in defining and supporting standardized programs to educate employees in the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence.
* Assist in the development of best practices, and best practice sharing across all operations.
* Build strong and positive working relationships with all functional areas across the company
* Perform other tasks as directed by direct supervisor.
* Conduct all activities and behave in a method that is strictly consistent with the Company’s CITE Principals and Supporting Values while striving to achieve the Company Vision.
* Supervisory Responsibilities:
* May include responsibilities to directly supervise and manage the daily activities of one or more employees. Responsibilities do include the indirect supervision, coordination, and management of multiple employees as they are engaged in continuous improvement activities.

* Language Skills:
* Ability to read, and interpret common business documents including business reports, charts, graphs and diagrams.
* Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers/clients, members of the business community and public.
* Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs and diagrams.
* Reasoning Ability:
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
* Physical Demands:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
* Working Conditions:
*Typical office and plant manufacturing floor environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Extensive out-of-town travel to other manufacturing locations is required; 90% travel is expected. Some weekend and off shift work required.

* Reports to:
* Recruitment process may consist of any combination of phone, video and in person interviews.
