Capital Project Coordinator at Mosaic

Job Description:

A Capital Project Coordinator will be accountable for managing the financial and construction oversight of various capital projects supporting the business. The job will include multiple scopes of work, to include but not limited to earthen embankments for clay settling areas, overflow structures, creek crossings, sand filter treatment systems, dragline crossings, utility corridors, dragline crossings, and other geotechnical and water conveyance systems, and/or mine expansions and/or gypsum stacks/RCRA projects from initiation to completion. In this role, you'll collaborate with Geotech engineering group, environmental group, and SMEs across Mosaic while procuring services of outside engineering firms to assist in project design and construction.

Where You Will Work:



  • This is a hybrid role that is based out of our Four Corners location. Presently, our Engineering team works 3 to 4 days onsite and 1 to 2 days from home each week.



What You'll Do:



  • Project execution and management (including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, contractor management, etc.)


  • Follow Mosaic' Capital Process Management (CPM) road map from project initiations/concept, through engineering design (developing engineering work packages for projects, managing Engineering firms, reviewing deliverables), construction, commissioning, start-up, turn over, and project close-out.


  • Prepare and present project status reports to Mosaic leadership.


  • Define scope(s) of work, deliverables, and milestones for design services contracts.


  • During construction, managing construction issues, attending meetings, tracking, and resolving RAIs and RFIs submittals through the project lifecycle using Mosaic's document control process.


  • Collaborate with Mosaic's Procurement team in developing scope of works, preparing requests for quotes and proposals (RFQs/RFPs), listing potential bidders, conducting pre-bid meetings, evaluating bids, writing purchase orders, etc.


  • Collaborate with Mosaic's Procurement team on pre-bid meetings, evaluation of bids, pre-award meetings, purchase orders, etc.


  • Work with Mosaic's Project Controls team for forecasting/accruals and finance management using CCMR.


  • Review and approval of invoices, purchase orders, requisitions, etc. and distribute engineering deliverables to all project stakeholders.


  • Supervise and manage contracts to ensure Mosaic's quality, risk management, budget, schedule, and standards are adhered.


  • Actively participate in Mosaic's relentless pursuit of an injury-free workplace through project safety leadership company initiatives


  • Collaborate with Engineering Firms during Front End Loading (FEL) phases.


  • Travel to job sites for construction monitoring and progress.



Our Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:



  • Associate's Degree (Required).


  • Bachelor's Degree, BA or MBA or PMP or other applicable degree(s) or certification (Preferred).


  • Civil Construction: 7+ Years experience.


  • Mining Operations: 5+ Years experience.


  • Experience in Project Coordination, Project Management, Construction Management, or equivalent.


  • Experience working on large scale construction projects and management of engineering consultants, contractors and contracting firms.


  • Experience in the funding approval process (CPM roadmap), including project funding approval.


  • Good people management, leadership, and communication skills.


  • Ability to communicate and prioritize, and work on multi-disciplinary (i.e., geotechnical, civil, water, surveying, etc., including mine planning, permitting, reclamation, operations, safety) projects, and be adaptable to change and fast-paced construction projects.


  • Knowledge of surveying and ability to interpret construction plans.


  • Building connections with team members, customers, and contractors.





Bonus Points If You:



  • Have experience using Oracle Primavera P6 or similar software.


  • Have experience using SAP and/or Maximo.


  • Have an active PMP or another project-based certification.


  • Are familiar with Geotechnical engineering/hydrogeology/phosphate mining.
