The Automation Technician's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking care of our customers by executing the division's safety, quality, cost, productivity and profitability objectives. This position is also responsible for the design, installation, training, programming, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical machinery and automation systems in a safe and positive manner. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Extensive technical training and experience in an automation discipline
General knowledge of High Frequency Welders
Experience or training with Automation Systems and maintenance with a clear understanding of industrial PLC logic and programming (Mitsubishi)
Industrial Network experience
Experience in PLC Programming (Siemens)
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates the ability to produce detailed automation drawings using CAD (AutoCAD proficiency desired)
Demonstrates proficiency in Control and Automation design
Demonstrates an advanced understanding with AC, DC and Servo Drives
Demonstrates the ability to design, service, troubleshoot control systems ranging from electro mechanical devices and systems to high-speed production machines and PLCs
Mastery, application, and updating of technical and professional competencies; ability to build professional networks
Ability to manage automation projects with minimal supervision
Provides a solid understanding of computer programming and software development
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
Associate's Degree in automation discipline
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
