Job Summary:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll bring your hands-on transformer and systems experience to tackle our most challenging projects. This role blends research and development, customer service, and product support, with day-to-day activities focused on problem-solving to deliver transformative technologies that improve our production methods and product quality. You'll use your creativity and technical skills to solve complex problems through experimentation and testing. You'll also have the opportunity to learn new technical skills and collaborate with a talented team of engineers to develop and execute project objectives.


Your Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Design 3-phase transformers with capacities ranging from 45 kVA to 10 MVA and voltage ratings up to 46 kV.
  • Verify designs for short circuit withstand, over voltage withstand (short duration and transient), and thermal requirements.
  • Understand customer specifications to determine accurate requirements and specifications for transformers.
  • Prepare drawings and other submittals for customers.
  • Respond to customer questions and provide techno-commercial solutions.
  • Prepare shop drawings and manufacturing instructions.
  • Develop test protocols and review factory test reports.

Salary Range:

$73,000 - $99,470.00

Requirements:

Basic:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with a major in Electrical Machine Design/Power System or Bachelor of Science (Physics) with a major in Electro Magnetism.
  • Ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with engineering principles and procedures.
  • Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate in basic English.
  • Demonstrated examples of taking initiative, identifying new methods and approaches, and challenging current methods of working.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Experience using standard office productivity software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must complete a(n): application, talent assessment, job interview, pre-employment drug screen, and background check.
  • Current work authorization for employment in the United States.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Transformer Industry, with 5+ years of experience in designing distribution transformers.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD.
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting power quality.
  • Experience analyzing system designs.
  • Resides or plans to reside within reasonable commuting distance.
