The Department of Pharmacy has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Pharmacy Technician 4 to work at UHealth Kendall. The Pharmacist Technician 4 prepares medications for patients under the guidance of a Pharmacist and resolves complex problems related to prescription inquiries. Assists the Pharmacist with advanced activities and processes required to dispense specialty medical prescriptions, price-checking, and restocking of drugs, in addition to hazardous or other advanced level compounding. This job level serves as a lead to other pharmacy technicians regarding day-to-day tasks and ensuring quality and safety when preparing medications for patients.



CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.


  • Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.


  • Organizes and coordinates the effective use of personnel and materials.


  • Collaborates with department leadership on the daily management of Pharmacy technicians.


  • Serves as a liaison between pharmacy services and internal customers. May also collaborate between the order entry and dispensing operations.


  • Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.


  • Helps to develop, organize and deliver technician continuing education topics and courses


  • Participates in a short and/or long-term taskforce, group or committee.


  • Monitors pharmacy technicians ensuring proper coverage in all areas.


  • Participates in decision-making activities related to evaluating/acquiring pharmaceuticals and any other duties as assigned.


  • Stays abreast of specialized knowledge of all pharmacy technician processes and procedures, departmental fiscal requirements, and emergency situations and pharmacy procedures in the operating room.


  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:




Education:



High school diploma or equivalent



Certification and Licensing:



State of FL registration; Certification in relevant specialty or field



Experience:



Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.


  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence


  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.


  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.


  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
