Job Description:

The Parks Division of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for a dynamic, passionate, and collaborative individual for the Superintendent II position at Chadron State Park to help create a welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. Nebraska's amazing wildlife, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation is waiting for you!


JOB DUTIES:


• Campground, cabin, and facility maintenance, grounds keeping, cultural and natural resource management, trail maintenance, and ensure staff/visitor safety.


• Assist with operation of Park Activities that include Swimming Pool, Trail Rides, Shooting Range, etc.


• Assist with hiring, training, and supervising the park's seasonal workforce.


• Maintenance, operation, and ordering of tools, materials, and equipment.


• Collect data, maintain records, prepare reports, and collect fees.


• Communicate with the community and general public in the efforts of park development and promotion.


• Assist with and lead special events.


• Other duties as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND two years related experience including one year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



• Knowledge and interest in park management, principles and techniques of supervision, Nebraska wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor recreation.


• Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.


• Work and make decisions independently and as a team.


• Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials that may exceed 50 lbs.


• The operation, maintenance, and repair of park buildings, facilities, and equipment.


• Learn and apply agency rules and regulations.


• Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.


• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.


• Work and make decisions independently and as a team.


• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, administrative personnel, and the public.


• Bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
