Purpose of the Position

Serves as the Senior Finance Leader for a Business Unit. As a key member of the Business Unit Senior Management Team, has primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling financial related activities. Has direct responsibility for all accounting; job costing, and financial planning, analysis and reporting for a Business Unit.

Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.

Participates as a member of the Business Unit Senior Management Team. Analyzes and advises on the financial implications of key business decisions. Assists in creating, evaluating, and implementing strategic plans. Develops performance measures that support the strategic direction.

Oversees the Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting functions. Effectively and efficiently reports financial results in a consistent and timely manner. Responsible for budgeting and monthly forecasting. Develops, analyzes, and reports metrics that accurately highlight company performance. Provides key support for monthly Sales and Operations Planning.

Manages the daily operations of the finance and accounting department. Implements operational best practices, ensures effective internal controls are in place and financial statements are in compliance with GAAP. Ensure proper controls are in place and maintained to protect company assets and assure accurate reporting and interpretation of all financial data.

Develops, implements, and oversees the costing system. Works closely with Operations to ensure the costing system is aligned with operational needs and practices. Ensures that defined procedures and controls are in place throughout the costing process. Oversees the development of management costing reports and analysis.

Manages employees. Directs and supervises employees' work activities and monitors work performance. Collaborates with Human Resources to screen, interview and hire candidates. Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager. Monitors work performance and recommends compensation decisions based on guidelines. Follows Simmons values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees. Promotes a cooperative and harmonious environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.

Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Presents information to large and small groups. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.

Travel: Travels within North America to and from multiple facilities or work-sites. May require overnight stays.

Technical Experience: 10 years progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting and analysis. Must have strong financial leadership and analysis skills, as well as a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and accounting software systems.

Industry Experience: Preference for food processing or manufacturing organization.

Minimum Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area.

Preferred Education : MBA, CPA, CMA or related master's degree.
