Job Summary

The Ingredient Preparation department is a fast paced and dynamic production environment where associates are expected to quickly and accurately prepare, weigh and stage high volume ingredients.  Associates in the ingredient preparation department must establish familiarity with more than 500 different ingredients and prepare them to recipe specifications. On average the Ingredient Preparation team processes daily up to 250k pounds of materials spanning 250 different SKUs.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:


  • Accountable to ensuring compliance with all food safety, quality standards and good manufacturing practices including allergen handling and organic segregation. 

  • Required to maintain documentation that demonstrates regulatory compliance for all policies pertaining to HACCP, USDA and FDA mandates. 

  • Performs/responsible to adhere to all required quality/ food safety checks including data sheets including all controlled documents. For example, room temperature checks, color of product, smell, viscosity, weight checks, MOA (item number) before and after equipment checklist, changeovers (including allergen control) knife cleaning and handling.

  • Responsible for ensuring recipe integrity through verification of material item numbers and expiration dates prior to processing. 

  • Demonstrates competency to clean, assemble, operate and troubleshoot machinery respective to each functional area within ingredient preparation.

  • Inspects ingredients and ingredients packaging for conformance to safety and quality specifications.

  • Coordinates ingredient supply from storage to their assigned production area.

  • Follows all established safety protocols (LOTO, Work at Height, Wet, Cold Environment and wears required PPE for example: (Safety glasses, steal toe booths, gloves, aprons, sleeves, ear plugs, hard hat, etc).

  • Perform tasks to support other departments when directed

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Operates forklift (PIV) assist and replenish totes and pallets of ingredients to all lines

  • Adheres to all forklift safety and performance expectations.

Qualifications and Experience


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry

  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends

  • Ability to learn system logic and operate HMI/control panels and fine tune equipment for minor and major adjustments

  • Self-directed, able to keep oneself busy and flow to the work

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and internal/external customers

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY


  • Works with little supervision, but work is reviewed. Exercises discretion within areas of responsibility.

  • Recommends actions and alternatives to supervisor and others.

  • Position has little to no contact with customers.

  • Position makes indirect contribution to efforts that generate moderate levels of revenue.

  • Decisions or actions may have a moderate impact on other departments and/or external relationships of the organization. Errors are usually detected after the fact and may result in moderate interruption and delays in work output.

Compensation: $19-$22/hr Depending on experience

Physical Demands/Efforts


  • Extensive standing and walking

  • Climb and balance

  • Repetitive motion (hands/wrists)

  • Work requires occasional physical exertion, including some lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Mental & Visual Demands


  • Work performed by this position requires moderate concentration to effectively execute moderately complex tasks.

  • Work occasionally requires some degree of visual effort for periods of time.

Work Environment and Hazards


  • Employee works in a manufacturing setting with some exposure to heat, cold, dust, or other factors of minor inconvenience.

  • The position has some exposure to hazards that might cause minor injury.

  • Less than 25% travel is required for this position. Travel would be to other sites via airplane

  • Corporate Trainer must have availability and flexibility to work different shifts and days, sometimes for weeks at a time, to provide support and training to all of our employees.  May need to work weekends or overtime as required.
