The Strategic Customer Analytics team is responsible for creating and sharing out insights about the Best Buy customer using both Best Buy's rich internal data and external datasets. This team strives to be the subject matter experts on Best Buy customer data, be compelling storytellers using data, and assist the organization in making strategic decisions that may have an impact on our customer. As the Senior Manager of Strategic Membership Analytics, you will work to provide valuable information to the enterprise about our MyBBY members. This includes an understanding of the types of customers in our various levels of membership (free and paid), their shopping patterns, and their interactions with membership benefits & various other touchpoints. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. What will you do?<ul><li style="margin-left:8px">Manage, coach, and develop a team that performs membership analytics for the enterprise. Your team has strong strategic relationships with Enterprise Strategy, Membership, Technology, Marketing, Finance, and others, and is heavily involved in producing our monthly and quarterly customer updates to the enterprise. </li><li style="margin-left:8px">You will lead scoping sessions with your clients and will help guide the discussion to an analysis that makes sense for the questions being asked, is sound logic, and is reasonable given timelines & capacity. The goal is to lead clients away from simplistic tallying and reporting, but instead drive them towards holistic analyses.</li><li style="margin-left:8px">You will help facilitate a culture of test & measurement, including scoping discussions with our business stakeholders, partnership with finance around data/insight needs and business case development, and creating & measuring tests with our data science partners.</li><li style="margin-left:8px">For each project, you may assist in or lead writing SQL code, developing the methodology and analytical support to answer the question, creating presentation-ready material, and sharing out to the end client. </li></ul> Basic qualifications<ul><li style="margin-left:8px">7 years of experience in retail, analytics, business, or related area</li><li style="margin-left:8px">5 years of experience applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions</li><li style="margin-left:8px">1 year of experience leading and managing direct reports</li><li style="margin-left:8px">2 years of experience managing projects (e.g. defining scope, managing budgets, driving deliverables, meeting deadlines and managing priorities)</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Four-year bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, the physical sciences, computer science, or similar field with quantitative rigor</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Comfortable with writing your own SQL code (or an equivalent familiarity in SAS, R, Python, etc.)</li></ul>Preferred qualifications<ul><li style="margin-left:8px">5 years or more experience with analytics, reporting and/or database knowledge (using tools, applications and platforms such as SAS, SQL, Python or R)</li><li style="margin-left:8px">5 years or more experience with Tableau or Power BI</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Ability to effectively communicate technical/analytical topics to a non-technical/analytical audience</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Ability to effectively manage a business relationship with a client, consistently driving forward the work</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Ability to think creatively on how to apply our internal customer data, external data sources, and other Best Buy knowledge together to create informative/insightful work for our clients</li></ul>What's in it for you We're committed to helping our people thrive at work and at home.
