The IT Specialist II is responsible for coordination and execution of multi-tier technical support services to users of company’s personal computers via desk side and remote support. This position responds to user problems, both software and hardware applications, performs installations, modifications and repairs on PC’s and peripheral devices. This role will also install software upgrades when required and run diagnostics on computer hardware. The IT Specialist II may be responsible for tracking hardware and software inventory and providing user training on the use of standard software.
What the Candidate Will Do
Make changes to the appropriate equipment, or configurations, of equipment and application features and functions to realize the prescribed behavior, as per the requirements
Test the function and flow of the changes to make sure that all requirements have been satisfied, and that no conflicts have been introduced
Provide support for answer questions and giving direction to how the changes meet the requirements
Provide feedback on the quality of requirements, in terms of completeness, understanding, and testability
Make an assessment on the performance, or other impact the requirement may have on existing environments and the customers affected by the change. Report any risky changes, or changes that would have significant change in behavior, performance, resource utilization, or any other significant factor
Assist staff with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software
Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems

Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
1-2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree, with a technical major, such as Engineering or Computer Science
5+ years’ experience supporting Windows desktop and/or laptop PCs
Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs
Experience installing software, patches, updates on desktops, laptops, servers
