Job Description:

BGIS ITS is currently seeking a Sr. Controls Technician to join the team in Pompano Beach, FL.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation of low voltage controls systems
  • o Including but not limited to conduit, wiring, end device installation, terminations, control panel fabrication, wire/controls tagging.
  • Perform verification of the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS.
  • Proficiency in identifying HVAC system and control components, including but not limited to: VAV controls, BAS controls and peripherals, HVAC system type (Heat Pump, Furnace, RTU, Zone controls, split and mini split), T-stats and zone sensors, Overflow sensors, Refrigeration controls/ devices in walk-in coolers/freezers, Solenoid valves, Controllers, Defrost, ECM's, Evaporator, Condenser
  • Proficiency in and installing control devices, including but not limited to: KE2, Varis and Jene control cabinets, Temperature probes, Outside air sensors, T-stats, Zone sensors, BACnet loops, Ethernet cabling, T-stat wiring, VAV controls, Cradle Points, Wireless Access Points, Lighting controls, Current Transformers, Metering devices (AcuRev)
  • Installing and troubleshooting 0-480v circuitry.
  • Inspect, test & troubleshoot low voltage power equipment and systems, network communications, end devices, peripherals, valves & actuators, relays and sensors as part of the commissioning process
  • Calibrate electrical or electronic equipment and instruments according to technical manuals and written instructions
  • Commission BAS systems, end to end verification and report any anomalies.
  • Utilizing internal tools/standards
  • Provide daily updates to project manager
  • Perform related duties as assigned by project manager.
  • Deploy programming and graphics modify as required

Supported by project manager

  • Utilizing software and hand held testing tools, to verify proper operating parameters of systems and their performance
  • Perform system verification and startups
  • Perform control panel startups
  • Provide mentorship to junior controls techs
  • Attend service calls as required to diagnose and solve customer BAS issues
  • Ability of working at heights - Proper use/inspection and assembly of Fall Protection or Fall Restraint systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories.
  • Perform and follow proper shutdown/lockout of electrical systems.
  • Ability of working off ladders to a height of 10-20 feet for commissioning, functional testing, end to end verification of devices and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Ability of using fireman's ladder, roof access ladders, and extension ladders to access roof.
  • In certain instances, operate and use mobile powered elevating devices applicable for on-site tasks as required.
  • Being able to drive to and from work sites on a daily / regular basis. This may involve daytime / night time driving dependent on scheduling of shifts due to client requirements.
  • Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, scheduling, and on-site documentationi.e. redlines and as-builts.
  • Perform quality control inspections.



KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Ability to work 7 days/ week.
  • Ability to travel for 4-6 weeks at a time.
  • Proficiency in recognizing proper and improper installation of BAS, refrigeration and HVAC control devices and peripherals.
  • Proficiency in utilizing smart phones, tablets and laptops including but not limited to: Microsoft suite, Excel, Outlook Teams, Electrical forms, Encore, Fastfields
  • Ability to communicate professionally to customers internal and external, including but not limited to: Project manager, Lead Technicians, End Users.
  • Level is inclusive of responsibilities of JT
