POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for assessing current resources, organizational structure, and making any necessary changes to drive efficiencies, improve accuracy, and implement additional internal controls as needed. In the short term, the priority will be to build the accounting function for MHS Technical Services, Inc. with a focus on structure driven through process and procedures. Long-term focus is to align accounting and payroll functions to support the business and drive the correct behaviors to support growth plans. This position will report directly to the Director of Operations.


Remote candidates considered within a 300-mile radius of Mt. Washington, KY with travel to the office as needed.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Oversee the organization's daily accounting functions

  • Manage the budget process

  • Maintain, manage and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, reports, tax compliance issues

  • Coordinating activities of external auditors

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports

  • Developing and monitoring financial performance metrics

  • Develop models and projections to estimate what finances will look like over the course of a year

  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance

  • Manage Payroll personnel

  • Assist in estimating proposals and reviewing project financials

  • Provide oversight and governance of the month-end close process

  • Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively supervise, develop and coach staff

  • Develop, recommend, implement, and manage operational policies, procedures and controls that assure organized, efficient, and compliant management systems

  • Promote open communication between internal and external customers and employees to enhance cooperative efforts, improve business office performance and assure consistently positive outcomes

  • Improve current manual processes through automation and process improvements

  • Work closely and collaboratively with company leaders

  • Provide financial and operational input on management decisions as needed

  • May hire and retain the proper talent to drive efficiency and customer service to our field organization, customers and suppliers

  • Facilitate teamwork, cross-functional awareness and proficiency

  • Maintain detailed and accessible documentation of department procedures, policies, workflows, and reporting

  • Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration

  • 2-4 years of experience in either public accounting or 5-10 years of experience in the accounting department of a publicly held company

  • Active CPA certification

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general business software

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  • Attentive to detail with the ability to multi-task

  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job




DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365

  • Experience with PowerBI, Data Cubes and other reporting platforms

  • Experience with Infor LN




WORKING CONDITIONS:



When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Associates are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. When travelling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.

The base salary range for this role is $97,800 to $146,700. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
