Position: Tooling Attendant/Technician

Pay: Starting pay $21.04/hr plus $1.15/hr shift differential!!

Shifts: 2nd

• 2nd shift – Monday to Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm

Overtime: As needed base off production demand

Training: First shift

Our Winston-Salem, North Carolina assembly plant manufactures batteries used in automotive and marine applications. We opened our facility in 1978 and now employ more than 500 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and give back through food drives for Second Harvest Food Bank and toy drives for Brenner Children’s Hospital.

Summary:

Tooling Technician is needed to ensure clean functional tooling for all Pasting lines. The role involves precise staging of changeover tooling, including hopper tooling, cogwheels, divider stands, tool stands, and expander dies. Key responsibilities include reading calipers for divider dies setup within 0.001”, setting divider stands to precision torque limits, tracking tooling updates in the log, handling tooling replacements, assisting operators during changeovers, organizing die and tooling storage, supporting team members, and complying with production requirements. Safety is paramount, with adherence to safety programs, Lockout procedures, personal protective equipment protocols, fire and electrical safety, and hearing conservation measures.

Primary Duties:

• Precise staging of changeover tooling, including hopper tooling, cogwheels, divider stands, tool stands, and expander dies.


• Reading calipers for divider dies setup within 0.001.


• Setting divider stands to precision torque limits.


• Tracking tooling updates in the Tooling log


• Handling tooling replacements – Replacing dies as needed for operations.


• Supporting operators during changeovers


• Organizing die and tooling storage


• Assisting team members


• Complying with production requirements


• Other duties as assigned by management.


• Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.


•  Continuous standing and walking throughout an eight-hour shift.


• Must be able to attain a forklift license and operate safely.


•  Six months of mechanical experience required – basic mechanical knowledge.


• Willingness to learn all aspects of the technician's procedures and processes.


• Safety-conscious with care for equipment, materials, and the safety of others and oneself

Qualifications:

• 1+ year(s) of experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Comfortable working 12 hour days.


• Ability to stand/walk for long period of time.


• Ability to work in a hot environment.


• Ability to physically bend, twist and kneel in a safe and efficient manner.


• Basic computer skills.


• Basic math, reading and writing skills.


• Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed.


• Ability to come in early or stay late depending on production demands.


• Must be able to wear required PPE.
