The Tower Technician position at NKTelco will specialize in the installation, servicing, maintenance and decommissioning of fixed wireless systems.  They work with a variety of hardware, including coaxial cables, cat5 cables, fiber optic cables, network switches, routers, and antennas. Job Type: Full-time


Rate: $25-$32/hour plus on call and overtime pay if applicable 


Location: Office located in New Knoxville, OH


Primary Responsibilities Include:



  • Perform support and maintenance of fixed wireless plant   

  • Conduct repairs to telecom towers at heights up to 300’  

  • Reporting on possible hazards  

  • Following work checklists and ensure operational compliance  

  • Expanding network coverage  

  • Troubleshooting system outages  

  • Power supply maintenance   

  • Knowledge and experience working with electronics, electrical, RF, and fiber optic equipment  

  • Able to communicate clearly and good interpersonal skills  

  • Able to work independently and plan accordingly to complete daily assignments  

  • Able to properly operate small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment  

  • Strong computer skills in Word and Excel  

  • Able to accurately measure distances using tapes or other measuring devices  

  • Able to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires/cables  

  • Ability to work in tight spaces including attics, crawl spaces, cabinets, utility closets, and telco rooms  

  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with all OSHA, FCC, NEC, and local ordinances.  


A successful Tower Technician will have:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • 1-2 years of broadband experience in telephony, fiber optics, or related field

  • Valid and clean driver's license

  • Able to properly operate small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment 

  • Able to work independently and plan to complete projects 

  • Able to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires/cables 

  • Required to participate in tower climbing education /certification classes

    • Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects

    • On-call schedules every 3 weeks

    • Work schedules may adjust based on business need
