POSITION PURPOSE: The Quality Manager is a technical leader responsible for the site management of the ISO9001:2008 Quality Management system, as well as implementation and maintenance of the AS9100 Quality Management System. This position will lead the strategic goals and tactical functions of Sunpower Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes for both commercial and aerospace business segments. The Quality Manager is a key member of the Sunpower Leadership Team.

CORE DUTIES & ROUTINE FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement and/or maintain the current version of the ISO 9000 (Commercial) and AS9100 (Aerospace) Quality Management Systems.
  • Oversee all key functions of the Sunpower Quality department, including: Return Material Authorization (RMA) Process; Engineering Change Request/Notice (ECR/ECN) Processes; Customer Complaint (CC) Process; Supplier Audits and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs); Nonconformance and Discrepancy Reports
  • Establish and track department Key Performance Indicators, with analysis of results
  • Lead statistical and trend analyses of quality issues and opportunities for Continuous Improvement throughout the company, i.e. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions, Preventative Actions, etc.
  • Lead and manage the Quality Assurance Team. Provide training, leadership, guidance, performance reviews, feedback, career planning and professional development opportunities to the Quality Assurance Team
  • Responsibility for recruiting, hiring, training, creating effective job descriptions
  • Interface with personnel at all levels of Sunpower while leading efforts to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Oversee the purchasing and maintenance of Quality Assurance Inspection equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Active participation in Sunpower Leadership Team
  • Financial responsibility for budgeted department expenses, providing input and review of budget process
  • Lead Quality Assurance internal, external, and customer audits and assessments.
  • Provide weekly and other summary reports of all Quality Assurance activities.
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year College or university is required
  • Bachelor Degree in Education/Business, Engineering preferred
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION

  • 5 years minimum experience in Quality Management
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Manager, preferred
  • REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with the current version of the ISO 9000 Quality Management System.
  • Management experience in manufacturing and/or engineering environment is required.
  • Strong leadership and training skills
  • Ability to work and communicate at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office experience (i.e, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
  • Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Self-motivated.
  • PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with AS9100 QMS strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Oracle
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T
