The Role:

Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking an Analytical Operations Lab Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will oversee first shift operations of the Analytical Lab. In line with our PACE values, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the analytical lab, running and troubleshooting analytical methods to provide on time support to manufacturing, engineering and quality groups.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage 1st shift testing and laboratory projects
  • Lead and develop an empowered workforce (10-15 direct reports)
  • Instill safety and quality culture to meet company targets
  • Look for continuous improvement projects to improve efficiencies or reduce waste
  • Met performance targets, and complete measurement system analyses (MSAs), validations and qualifications (V&Qs) within required timeline
  • Oversee, train, and conduct analysis as defined by existing work instructions on raw materials and finished goods to ensure QC/QA
  • Develop and execute resource plans to meet business needs
  • Use proper controls for analytical instrumentation, validate and verify data and take corrective action when out of control events occur
  • Maintain instrumentation ensuring PM schedule is met and any minor trouble shooting is done timely to reduce downtime.
  • Test and analyze R&D samples, manufactured materials, raw material samples, and in-process samples when needed
  • Work on cross-functional teams as analytical subject matter expert
  • This role is on-site in Burnet, TX and supports 24x7 manufacturing facility.

What We Seek:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics or engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant operational laboratory experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in a people management/supervisory role
  • Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry, materials science & physics required. Familiarity with semiconductor device materials, structures, and metrology preferred.
  • Working knowledge of lab instrument operations and data analysis required. (HPLC, IC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, FTIR, NMR, STA, XRF) With focus on trace metals testing by ICP-MS.
  • Proficient in data analysis, statistical methods, and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of proper controls for analytical instrumentation, SPC, stability, accuracy, variation, and method uncertainty and GR&R required.
  • Hands on experience with applicable quality tools such as pareto, FMEA’s, SPC/SQC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams, 8D problem solving methodology required.
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Ability to wear the required PPE when working in the labs (safety glasses, face shields, lab coat, steel toe boots, cleanroom garments etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to obtain buy-in from all stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Flexible, internally driven individual that can support fast paced, constantly changing environment and a multitude of priorities
  • Ability to travel occasionally. Max 1x per quarter.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing people and working with global teams
  • Knowledge of LIMS applications (Labware, SampleManager)
  • Knowledge of software systems used in analytical laboratories (Chromeleon, OpenLab, etc)
  • Good working Knowledge of ISO 17025, and 90001 standards.
  • Prior experience in a chemical / gas laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with handling corrosives and air-sensitive chemistries (liquid and solid materials) in support of three major product lines (Deposition, Cleans and CMP)
