Job Summary


Individuals within the Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst role identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. They work closely with clients and IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. It is essential that BI Analysts build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues. They provide data that is accurate, congruent, and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. BI Analysts educate and train clients to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and option exploration.



Job Responsibilities


BI Analysts work with clients to determine business requirements, and priorities, define key performance indicators (KPI) and develop BI and data lake strategies. This includes working with business and development teams to design and document dashboards, alerts, and reports. This individual is accountable for providing leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and presentation of findings to all levels of management. They conduct analyses of functional business processes and functional business requirements and participate in the development of business cases in support of process changes and/or IT projects.

BI Analysts understand how data is turned into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes. They must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and an interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element to create information. They must work well within a team environment.


  • SQL Design/Implementation - 20% of the time includes the following activities:
  • Implement, maintain, and enhance ELT solutions fulfilling data quality, availability, data freshness, and performance requirements, working with the business analysts to understand the business requirements to be fulfilled by the data, and assessing requirements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop methods for integrating different data sources so they work properly together, such as customizing standard source system/product databases to fit specific needs. Analyze and interpret all complex data on the target system analyze and provide resolutions to all data issues and coordinate with analysts to validate all requirements.

  • Business Intelligence and Data Analysis - 40% of time includes the following activities:
  • Perform data analysis, produce data samples/prototypes, and produce ad-hoc reports. Obtain and analyze data by accessing multiple sources, including Incorta, and enable agile data analysis and data preparation for front-end data and analytics implementation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to utilize advanced data analytics, such as statistical analysis, forecasting, regression, etc., to add value to business processes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of specific areas of the business and the key metrics that drive performance. Query data to analyze, monitor, and investigate trends.
  • Partner and collaborate with Business Analysts to provide input to project timelines, scope, and risks for Business Intelligence initiatives.
  • Evaluate and plan activities to implement automation of manual data extracts and other manual activities.
  • Utilize LEAN and Kaizen concepts to identify and implement data-driven continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Data Architecture, Governance and Quality - 25% of the time includes the following activities:
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, data flows, data mapping and data dictionaries. Keep documentation up to date on any data flow changes.
  • Maintain and implement robust data governance methodologies for master and transactional data as well as data quality framework management for end-to-end data quality.
  • Perform tests and validate all data flows and prepare all ETL processes according to business requirements and incorporate all business requirements into all design specifications.
  • Support design & development of dimensional and normalized data models describing data elements and how they are used, following standard data modeling practices for a Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform.
  • Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database and create a data dictionary.

  • Leadership - 15% of the time includes the following activities:
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead small cross-functional project teams.
  • Provide guidance on best practices and approaches to design and implement effective analytics solutions.
  • Perform post-project reviews with the project team from D&A and IT, identify best practices and learnings, and implement them in the project execution process to improve future project execution.
  • Promote Zeus Corporate values and leadership goals.
  • Act as a mentor for others in the business.

Qualifications:



Education:
  • Bachelor's degree within a technical-related field (i.e., Computer Science, Information Management Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics)
  • Master's degree in the above fields preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis. Passion for delivering actionable insights.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, developing BI and other analytical, reporting solutions using standard BI tools.
  • Experience in the creation of technical specifications and project documentation and translating functional requirements into detailed technical requirements.
  • Has strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving/conflict resolution, critical thinking, and priority setting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Incorta, ETL tools, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL. Python and/or R preferred.
  • ROLAP/MOLAP/OLTP architecture knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in working with several groups of data and users simultaneously.
  • Experience in being innovative and having strong analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong time management skills.
