BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This position is geared toward a person with a strong background in bulk handing equipment (conveyors and like equipment) repair including troubleshooting, diagnosis, and complete repair of equipment. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the site.

  • Reads and understands engineering drawings, component manuals, and schematic drawings to determine repair parts needed and work procedures.

  • Must understand and demonstrate structural erecting, rigging, reinforcing, and welding of all equipment/machinery.

  • Dismantles and repairs gear reducers and other conveyor components.

  • Moves machinery and equipment as needed to check out and repair as needed.

  • Must be able to properly align machines and equipment for proper operations.

  • Repairs and lubricates machines, equipment and conveyor components.

  • Diagnoses problems and makes repairs to equipment including drives, pumps, hydraulics, etc.

  • Assembles and installs equipment such as drive motors, conveyors, and pulley assemblies.

  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment, and makes adjustments.

  • Operates a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, alignment equipment, and electric meters.

  • Lubricates moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.



Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements include:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience required.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.

  • Must work shift schedule as assigned and overtime with little to no notice during the week, weekends, holiday, etc. as needed for operational needs.

  • In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.

  • Understand and be able to perform/coordinate mechanical and electrical inspections (ANSI/OSHA).

  • Should demonstrate extensive knowledge of ANSI regulations and OSHA regulations pertaining to conveying equipment.

  • Must be willing to carry a company provided cell phone.

  • If required must be able to perform shift work, rotating day/night.

  • You will be subject to the on-call schedule and must respond to emergency call outs as scheduled.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ECT:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.

  • Must possess Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.

  • Must be able to complete/pass background checks and drug testing for entrance into facilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan's rules and policies.

  • Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, etc. for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to handle evolving conditions.

  • Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.

  • This position consist of outside work and adverse weather conditions may apply.

  • Must be able to work in dusty environment.

  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical part, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock and loud noise levels.
