Your Role:


The New Product Development group within Electronics - Thin Film Solutions is seeking an Associate Scientist 1 with experience in hands on laboratory experimentation in distillation, sublimation, and adsorption to join the team in Carlsbad, CA. The successful candidate will assist in developing techniques to and package novel organosilane and organometallic materials. They will be responsible for design and optimization of run conditions for distillation and adsorption working as part of an integrated team of researchers to support new product development, with most of their time being hands-on laboratory work. The role involves working closely with synthesis, analytical, scale-up, and commercial teams to ensure rapid delivery of new products to customers. The Associate Scientist 1 will mainly use lab to pilot scale distillation and adsorption apparatus and prepare samples for analysis. Additional experience handling of air and moisture sensitive materials and understanding of analytical methods such as gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy is preferred.



Who You Are:




Minimum Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science discipline



OR




  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of industry experience in the specialty chemicals field




Preferred Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science discipline and 1+ years of industry experience in the specialty chemicals field

  • Strong commitment to safety and role-modeling safe behaviors in laboratory operations

  • Knowledge of technical separation processes such as distillation and adsorption

  • Theoretical and operational understanding of analytical techniques, such as GC, GC/MS, IR

  • Knowledge of fundamentals and practical experience in the use of statistics

  • Hands on experience in operating laboratory and pilot scale distillation apparatus

  • Experience handling air and/or moisture sensitive materials in purge/glove boxes

  • Ability to analyze and develop solutions for open-ended problems

  • Experience with experimental design and optimizing product quality and yield

  • Excellent interpersonal skills that support a diverse team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated creativity and strong problem-solving skills



Pay Range for this position - $49,500 - $148,900
