Job Title: Technical Designer, HOKA Apparel

Reports to: Director of Development, HOKA Apparel and Accessories

Location: Portland, OR - Office-Hybrid

The Role

The Technical Designer, HOKA Apparel is primarily responsible for ensuring that aesthetic fit intention, functional fit intention, category-based sizing, and quality construction standards are met, developed, maintained, and recorded for assigned seasonal products.

Additionally, the Tech Designer, HOKA Apparel brings a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise in apparel fit, sizing, construction, and quality to cross functional team members, while continually striving to elevate the quality of the product with athlete and consumer end-use top of mind.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:


  • Build, update, and review tech packs. Owns the fit, pattern, spec, and construction communication with vendors from initial tech pack stage through prototype and pre-production stages.

  • Maintain fit, sizing, and construction consistency both in execution and record keeping. Ensure standard grade rules are applied to each garment.

  • Lead fit sessions. Collaborate with Design and PLM to translate fit and aesthetic details. Seek feedback from live models on comfort and functionality.

  • Communicate with vendor partners on daily basis to maintain deadlines and problem solve fit and/or quality issues.

  • Benchmark standards via competitive analysis for fit, construction, and grading to ensure best in class product.

  • Ensures calendar dates are met for key development milestones, final fit approval and RTB (Ready to Buy) deadlines.

Who You Are

A passionate team player with fit and construction expertise in the athletic apparel industry. You obsess fit and construction details for best-in-class product for our athletes and consumers within seasonal development timeline constraints.

We'd love to hear from people with


  • Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant work experience.

  • 5-7+ years of apparel technical design experience

  • Expertise in knit/woven performance apparel patternmaking, pattern corrections, fitting, sizing categories, construction methods.

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, 2D patterning software.

  • 3D (Browzwear, Clo) and Plus sizing experience highly desired.

  • Strong analytics, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.

  • Positive and energetic team player.
